The Defiler – Part 3: A Monster On Trial

Play episode

Concluding Series 11’s opening tale, and in November 2021, David Fuller stood in the dock of Maidstone Crown Court to face trial for the murders of Wendy Knell and Caroline Pierce back in 1987, the Tunbridge Wells ‘Bedsit’ murders, as well as charges relating to the harrowing, disturbing offences that he had catalogued himself committing against the bodies of women and children in the mortuaries of two hospitals he had worked at – at least over a 15 year period.

How would Fuller plead? And what would develop, questions and actions, from the emergence of one of, perhaps THE most depraved and prolific offenders in British criminal history?

The episode contains details and descriptions of crimes and events, including descriptions of a sexual nature, and with references to practices that some listeners may find extremely disturbing or distressing, so discretion is advised whilst listening in.
